Jesus Is…

the
Bread of Life

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.”

John 6:35 CSB

By equating Himself with bread, Jesus is saying he is essential for life. Second, the life Jesus is referring to is not physical life, but eternal life. That was physical bread that perishes. He is spiritual bread that brings eternal life.

He invites us to “come” and “believe. “Believing in Jesus means placing our faith in Him that He is who He says He is, that He will do what He says He will do, and that He is the only one who can. When we place our faith in Him, our sins are imputed to Jesus, and His righteousness is imputed to us. Jesus satisfies our hunger and thirst for righteousness. He is our Bread of Life.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

You had me on your mind long before the foundation of the world. You settled on me to be the focus of Your love, to be made whole and holy by your love. Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (John 15:16). Thank you, Lord, for calling me, giving me right standing with You, and giving me Your glory. In Your eyes, I am wanted. Help me know and receive Your love today!

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
